I was born in Madrid Spain. My husband’s job brought us here, to Pompano Beach Florida. Mario worked long hours. My daughter Sara was 3 years old and my son Ruben only few months old.
At the time, I only new a few words of English. Someone gave me one of those “Learn English in 10 days” books.
We lived two blocks away from the beach. We enjoyed the swimming pool and watched TV with Sara “Sesame Street” and “The Electric Company”. While I did that, I wrote down the words in English and translated them later using a dictionary (that's how I started to learn the language).
I miss my country, my family, and the foods from Spain… But I loved Florida.
I learned a new language, made wonderful friends, and the rest is history.
